With the federal election resulting in a Liberal victory, many Albertans may feel that the outcome doesn’t fully reflect the values and priorities we hold here at home. But if there’s one thing Albertans have always shown, it’s resilience. We lead with innovation, hard work, and an entrepreneurial spirit that has consistently driven growth — and that won’t change. While the path ahead may bring uncertainty, I’m confident that Alberta’s housing market will remain strong, supported by the determination and adaptability of our communities.
As a real estate agent in Alberta and someone who supports market-driven solutions, I’ve been following both parties’ housing policies with great interest. The approaches taken by the Liberals and Conservatives reflect very different philosophies for tackling Canada’s housing challenges.
From the Liberal perspective, policies focused on affordable housing initiatives, rent control measures, and tenant protections which are designed to increase accessibility and security for Canadians. While these measures are well-intentioned, there’s ongoing concern within the industry that they may unintentionally discourage investment in rental properties, potentially reducing long-term housing supply.
In contrast, the Conservative approach — centered on tax incentives for developers, streamlining regulations, and expanding land availability — aligns more closely with what I’ve experienced firsthand. After nearly two decades working alongside builders and land developers, I’ve seen how red tape can slow progress and limit flexibility. A more efficient regulatory process could significantly improve our ability to meet the needs of Alberta’s growing communities.
Policies that support increasing housing supply and promoting homeownership speak to the dreams of many Albertans. In this province, owning a home isn’t just a financial goal — it’s part of who we are. It builds stronger families, neighbourhoods, and economic foundations.
While the current government’s policies may offer short-term support in some areas, I believe long-term, market-oriented strategies will be essential for building a more sustainable and affordable future. Regardless of the political landscape, I remain committed to helping clients navigate the evolving real estate market with confidence and clarity.
While the current government’s policies may provide short-term support in key areas, long-term housing stability will ultimately depend on solutions that promote growth, efficiency, and supply. As we move forward, I believe a balanced approach — one that addresses affordability while also encouraging investment and development — will be essential. Here in Alberta, the opportunities are still strong, and I’m excited to help you make the most of them and regardless of the political landscape, I remain committed to helping clients navigate the evolving real estate market with confidence and clarity.
